Shadow Of The Moon, by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Shadow Of The Moon was painted in Walton's workshop last week at the Heritage Museum in Big Spring. I choose a small skin 3x3 that I was drawn to and quickly, in 8 to 10 minutes laid in the colors. Then I sprayed water in places to let the paint run and create drama. The object was to leave as much of the painting untouched and still have a good composition. This one passed Mr. Walton's keen critique and I only had to add a tiny moon with a halo for its completion. Sound easy....give it a try! Most artists tend to overwork the painting and create mud and chaos with this technique. It is quite a challenge!

There is an exhibition of the groups works at the Heritage Museum until May. It is a very unusual and exciting show. Stop by and see it if you are in the area.  Artists from Houston, Dallas, Santa Fe, and Louisiana, as well as locals, traveled the distance to take this innovatitive workshop with Mr. Walton.

February Art Walk by Leada Wood, Artist of Texas

February is staring out with lots of fun things. It is also very busy! I have been getting ready for the Lubbock Art Walk which was this past weekend. It was great to see so many folks out having fun. A special thanks to Bootman for helping me haul art and set up and to my family and friends who took the time to come by. I would also like to thank Varsity Book Store for inviting me.

Here I am setting up my tables getting ready for the art walkers.

It was sure nice not to have to haul easels from home. Varsity furnished the tables and easels.

The rest of this month I will be busy getting ready for my solo exhibition at Heritage Museum in Big Spring. I hope you will be able to drop by and see the exhibition if you are in the neighborhood.

Caboose Watercolor Sociery by Leada Wood

Christmas Tree Forest at Heritage Museum

Our opening at the Heritage Museum was so lovely. The museum staff works so hard to make Christmas come alive! There are trees upstairs and downstairs with so many different themes. They will be having different events during the month of December. Be sure to stop by and see the Caboose Watercolor Society Historical Big Spring Show and get in the Christmas Spirit!

Serre and Geti by Leada Wood©

Serre and Geti by Leada Wood©

This 12x14 painting, watercolor on Strathmore paper was fun to do for Inspiration Avenue's challenge, Patterns.  I named it after the mother of national parks in Africa ,the Serengeti, where about a million zebras run wild along with all the other animals. It's wonderful to have a refuge to keep them safe and protect all the wildlife. This painting will  be included in the upcoming Caboose Watercolor Society show at the Heritage Museum, running September 17 thru November 2nd, 2011.

Linda likes cake!

Is Linda really eating two pieces of cake at the artist reception? She is pictured in the lovely Christmas tree forest at the Heritage Museum's opening of "Angels We Have Heard On High" exhibit by the Caboose Watercolor Society running now through January 8th 2011.
