Wish Upon A Star, by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Leada Wood, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Collage

"Wish Upon A Star" by Leada Wood ©2016

I always loved Disney and can remember watching it on Sunday evenings when growing up. I think he was influential in my creative development. I was always an imaginative and curious child asking questions and wanting to know why.

"Wish Upon A Star" is collage on cradle board. I hand paint most of the paper I use in collage. These papers began as Gelli prints that I embellished before they began their life as collage. A long process that is quite entailed to be sure...but it is all about the process...right?

The song Wish Upon a star was written for Disney by Leigh Harline for the movie Pinocchio and was sung by Jiminy Cricket. It has since become the representative song of the Walt Disney Company.

When you wish upon a star
Makes  no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

When your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star
Your dreams will come true

Oh those were simpler times full of imagination! Thanks for stopping by!

Slim, Shorty And Lulu Gone Wild by Leada Wood Contemporary Texas Artist

Slim, Shorty And Lulu Gone Wild -Copyright Leada Wood 2013

Slim, Shorty and Lulu gone wild came about after a wonderful family outing with the Kids and a trip to the circus. I had not been to a circus in ever so long...wasn't sure they still existed! Oh what a grand time we had and wonderful ideas began spinning around in my head. I love to paint my goonie birds but have not done so for a long time. The sparks began to fly and away I went to my drawing board and started this adventure. As you can see I became a little carried away and went over to the wild side! It was a fun ride while it lasted.

This is a close up of  Shorty ... a colorful little bird!

This is Slim...that bird is up to something! I can see it in his eye! Maybe he wonders why his pal Shorty is standing so close to his gal Lulu?

And this is Slim and Lulu...as you can see birds of a feather flock together and Slim has nothing to worry about! I can see that Lulu only has eyes for Slim. I hope you have enjoyed my little bird brained tale...I think I see more adventures of Slim, Shorty and Lulu in my future.

Mad Hatter Tea by Leada Wood©

Mad Hatter Tea by Leada Wood©

I don't know about you but I love Alice In Wonderland. I still have my little golden book from my childhood, although it is  getting a little fragile as it was well read.  I got to spend the afternoon at the zoo with my grandson, granddaughter and son, a few days back and seeing all the flamingos got me to thinking of Alice.  I especially enjoyed the Queen's croquet game and her flamingo croquet mallets.  What an imagination Lewis Carrol had!

This painting is a mixed media with watercolor, prisimcolor, and collage.

Cupcake Faries by Leada Wood©, Artist Of Texas

Cupcake Fairies by Leada Wood©
I did this painting 8x10, watercolor on paper for a sweet lady named Cindy who does the most fabulous decorated cupcakes and they taste wonderful also! I was hosting a tea for some friends from Denmark and Cindy made the prettiest cupcakes you can imagine for the tea.  There were flowers and butterflies in every color imaginable...each cupcake was a little work of art. I think Cindy must have a bunch of little fairies helping her decorate! Thank you Cindy!
