Day Eighteem-30-30 Challenge by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Glamour Gal Copyright 2015 Leada Wood

It was such a beautiful, sunshiny day in Texas I hated to be indoors! Glamour Gal beckoned me and I heeded her call, but I ran in and out while paint dried so the best of both worlds as they say. I am sure if it wasn't for the challenge Glamour Gal would not have been created today.

My Grandma had a Basett Hound named Bobo...I still can see him in my minds eye. Bobo was a large Basett but of course I was pretty small so everything looked big.  I remember my cousins and I standing peering over the little fence of his outdoors cage. I don't know what fascinated me about Bobo...maybe it was his sad eyes. Grandma  would let us feed Bobo little doggie treats and one of the kids gave our younger cousin a doggie treat too. I think someone got a spanking!

Day Sixteen - 30-30 Challenge by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

So Happy Together Copyright 2015 Leada Wood

Day Sixteen of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge and I am on the down hill run! Whoohoo! It is amazing how when you get in the groove how many more paintings come to mind. Yes they are rather simple and small but fun to create. I sometimes do anywhere from one to 3 drawings at night after hours. I have plans that some of these will develop further into larger more complex paintings...the ole creative juices are flowing again. That is one reason I enjoy doing the challenge it gets me going after all the holidays.

So Happy Together was created on one of those canvas boards I started right before the challenge. I did a previous post on them about working in a series. That is the nice thing about putting layers of collage and paint on...you have a ready surface when an idea strikes and you can develop it further.  Oh and preparing the canvas was allowed in the challenge!

Day Thirteen-30-30 Challenge by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

I had more fun painting this Dalmatian...it brought back memories. When our kids were young we decided to get two Dalmatians and raise them. Daisy and Dagwood were good dogs and they had their first litter of nine pups! At the time we had a six month old, a two year old and a six year old and 11 dogs. Life was good...until the pups got red mange. I had to bathe the pups every day in a special solution to get rid of it. As soon as those pups got old enough we gave them all away to good homes and thus ended our dog business. I still like Dalmatians but I prefer just to paint them. Thanks for stopping by!

Day Twelve-30-30 Challenge by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Southern Belle,copyright 2015 Leada Wood

It is getting harder to complete a painting everyday, if I was a quitter, today would have been the day! Over 1200 artists started this challenge and only around 300 are still posting everyday so I guess I am doing ok. I'm sure some folks think that painting is all I have to do but they are wrong! I still have laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping, work and anything else that is thrown my way. Not much down time, reading or watching tv but I am still going.....not much longer...I can do this!

Day Eleven-30-30 Challenge by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Roadrunner Copyright 2015 Leada Wood

Roadrunners fascinate me and they live in the pasture around our house so it is fun to watch them. I have one who brings gifts of rocks and sticks and lays them at our front door. I catch them sneaking over the back fence and peaking in the glass doors. Apparently they are very curious birds and fearless. They catch lizards and snakes and other critters. Roadrunners are monogamous birds and offer gifts during courtship...guess that cuckoo is courting his reflection in the glass. The roadrunners  are a member of the cuckoo family and maybe why they fit in on our place!
