This is a 12X24 inch mixed media collage on crescent illustration board using liquid acrylics, matt medium, tar gel, embossing medium and white feathers. I started this one when I was painting angels for the upcoming show at the Heritage Museum but didn't get it finished in time so I decided to post this on my blog as a special invitation to all of you to the opening of Angels We Have Heard On High, December 4th at 4 PM. If you are in Big Spring be sure to stop by! The show will run through January 11th.

When The Trumpet Sounds

When The Trumpet Sounds, watercolor by Leada Wood (c) 2010 All Right Reserved

Yes I am still painting angels! One to go but I must take them to the museum tomorrow. It has been a fun process and I can't wait to see all our heavenly paintings hanging together! The Caboose Watercolor Society show, Angels We Have Heard On High, will open at the Heritage Museum in Big Spring Texas on December 4th and will run through January 11th. This is a transparent watercolor on Arches 15x22, with gold leaf added for her glory. Yes I drew everyone of the Fleu-De-Les in the background, they don't show too well in this photo as it is low resolution. I want to do this angel again with a stain glass effect in the background. Seems like I am never ready to give up working on our themed shows, the ideas just keep coming and I keep asking my self What If?

Circle Of Life

Circle Of Life, Mixed Media by Leada Wood (c)2010 All Rights Reserved
I am passionately painting angels preparing for the Caboose Watercolor Sociey's upcoming angel exhibit at the Heritage Museum in Big Spring, Texas, if you are in the area drop by and see our heavenly creations. The Circle of Life is a 20x20 mixed media painted on Crescent Illustration Board. I used gel medium to give texture and to stamp my Fleur-De-Lis in the circle. The angel is painted with transparent watercolor. The Fleur-De-Lis is a stylized Christian symbol representing the lilly which represents purity and in turn the Virgin Mary. The Fleur-De-Lis is composed of three petals and three sepals which symbolizes the Trinity.
