Freakin' by Leada Wood,Texas Artist

Day 11 of Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 Days. Whew! It maybe a very long month! Okay, okay I know I signed up for it but can't I whine just a little? Not only do I have to come up something to paint and then get the job done but then I have to name my creation. Realism is a little easier I think as the subject matter usually gives me a clue, like red apple or sunset. I guess I could have named this one red sphere, blue sphere...nah. Since I have been freakin' out a little about not only doing a painting a day but trying to get a little ahead in case I get in a pinch I thought that was an appropriate title. Do you think paintings on my I Pad would count...it is very difficult to paint with only a finger...hmmm what do you think?

ALL THINGS CONNECTED by Leada Wood, Contemporary Texas Artist

This was an interesting mixed media abstract to bring to completion. Each part is 12x12 and can stand on its own yet really looks nice as a part of the whole...kind of like a puzzle. I think that is what intrigues me so about mixed media, I always liked puzzles and they are similar in that you have to solve problems in order to make a painting. There is no subject matter to refer back to when you need to like a still life or a landscape. It all comes from within. This painting is on display through the month of April at the Heritage Museum at my solo show Visions. Hope you can drop by!

My Turquoise Obsession by Leada Wood, Artist Of Texas

My Turquoise Obsession by Leada Wood©
I have loved turquoise for so long it has become an obsession! I still collect turquoise jewelry and wear it like it was the 70's. It is such a beautiful hue and goes with so many other colors. It is a strong color that radiates tranquility, peace and calm. Turquoise is a great color to have around you as it calms . Hmmm they say it heightens your sense of creativity and sensitivity. I also read turquoise encourages inner healing through its ability to enhance empathy and caring. It heightens  your intuitive ability and opens the door to spiritual growth and is the color of the evolved soul. Well I don't know about all of that but I do know that I LOVE that color and will continue to enjoy it and surround myself with it as it does bring me joy!

This painting is 11x14 mixed media on paper and is available.

Cosmic Connection by Leada Wood, Contemporay Artist Of Texas

Cosmic Connection by Leada Wood©

This mixed media acrylic abstract is 18x24 on illustration board. I incorporated lots of textures and rich colors to this one. I enjoy the freedom of painting abstracts...it allows my creative child a chance to come out and play! I usually start with abandonment and then try to bring a little control to the painting in order to give the design a cohesive look. This one has lots of energy and movement to it. This painting is available!
