"You Are My Sunshine" by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Good morning from Dragonfly Farm where the birds are singing, the butterflies are floating, the bees are buzzing and life is good! "You Are My Sunshine" was inspired by the cheerful yellow sunflowers that dance in the wind around the farm. I just love to paint them! I see why Van Gogh painted them often. My friend Linda said if there was one artist that she could go back in time and talk to, it would be Van Gogh...wouldn't that be amazing.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Sunny Days by Leada Wood

Sunny Days © Leada Wood

We have been getting lots of moisture in Texas over the winter and spring which has really brought the wild flowers on strong, especially the pretty yellow flowers.
I just love springtime in Texas!
My mom's favorite color was yellow and she really liked sunflowers, as do I. I Love to see the giant ones heavy with seeds swaying in the wind with their heads bent over. Every time I see some I have to stop and snap a few photos for future paintings. I have done  several sunflower paintings and never tire of painting them, so cheery to look at.
This painting is 8x10 on Arches paper painted with transparent watercolor and it needs a home!

Princess Alina by Leada Wood ©

I was laying in bed thinking about what I was going to do for the IA weekly challenge sunflowers and a little story began weaving in my mind.

Princess Alina
In the land of sunshine where sunflowers are plentiful, a little fairy princess dwelled. Her name was Alina (the fair) and she lived in a pasture full of beautiful yellow sunflowers. The warm gentle breeze would make them sway back and forth and they looked as if they were dancing. Princess Alina would sit for hours and watch their cheerful faces glisten in the sunshine. Sometimes she would join them in the dancing and you could hear the wind whispering sweet melodies.  The warm summer air was heavy with their pleasant fragrance and life was good at

So begins my story and the first illustration for my little tale.
I enjoy the weekly challenges at Inspiration Avenue...you never know what they will come up with next and they always spark my imagination!

Sunflowers and Sparrow by Leada Wood©

Like birds, let us leave behind what we don't need to carry, pain, sorrows, grudges, fears. Always fly light, life is so beautiful!
