Every Child Is An Artist, by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Leada Wood, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Collage

Who doesn't love yummy strawberries dipped in chocolate! It is a tradition for the girls and I to dip a bunch of berries for the reception for the children's art show and other special occasions. Spring has arrived!

A labor of love for sure.

This cutie is enjoying her art class and using watercolor to paint her girly minion. Lots of concentration going on.

This young lady likes to paint coffee cups and has done several different paintings of them.

These kiddos are in the zone working on their projects.

These girly girls are seasoned artists with years of experience under their belts. Always something new to learn and share in the art world. Fun times at Studio Twenty!

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

Sushi! by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Day 17 of Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.

Sushi! by Leada Wood©2014

I know...Sushi is Japanese but this is an Asian inspired series so it qualifies, right? I can't say sushi without smiling...it's just fun to say!  I also can't think of it without thinking of my niece. She and her husband love the stuff.

Glory To God by Leada Wood, Artist Of Texas

Glory To God by Leada Wood ©

I shall attend to my little errands of love early this year,
So that the brief days before Christmas my be unhampered and clear
Of the fever of hurry. The breathless rushing that I have known in the past shall not possess me. I shall be calm in my soul and ready at last...
I shall have leisure-I shall go out alone from my roof and my door;
I shall not miss the silver silence of stars as I have before;
And oh, perhaps-if I stand there very still and very long,
I shall hear what the clamor of living has kept from me-
The angel's song.
                                                                                                           -Grace Noll Crowell
May you have peace in your heart this Christmas so that you too can hear the angel's singing.

Joy to the world the Lord has come; Let earth receive her King; Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room, and heav'n and nature sing; And heav'n and nature sing, and heav'n and nature sing.

                                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Jolly Ole St Nick by Leada Wood, Artist of Texas

Jolly Ole St Nick by Leada Wood ©

Twas the night before Christmas and all through our house...the children are bouncing and boisterous and storming the house! Christmas Eve is BIG FUN at our home. The clan gathers and makes jolly holiday cheer. There are 24 of us, 13 are children! We are so blessed!

This is my painting that my Christmas cards were  made from this year. It is a watercolor, 15x22 on rag paper. I had just finished, framed and delivered it to the bank for exhibition when my retina tore in my eye! I also had finished my last commission for the season. I am so thankful that my sight has been restored and I can continue to enjoy the beautiful world around me.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for following my creative journey. I love reading your comments and hearing from you!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Chihuly Exhibition by Leada Wood, Contemporary Artist Of Texas

Renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s brings his dramatic sculptures and installations to the Dallas Arboretum. Many of the artist’s most well-known and iconic sculptures will be on display in the 66-acre garden. The Arboretum has extended the exhibition until December 30th. It is an incredible display throughout the garden, I know it will be beautiful through the Christmas Holidays. I hope I am able to go back to Dallas and see it again! It was amazing with all the fall flowers and pumpkins.
I thought I would share my photos with you in case you cannot get to his show. ENJOY!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED SEEING SOME OF THE INSTALLATION, IT IS MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE IN PERSON. I KNOW IT WOULD BE EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL AT NIGHT. CHECK IT OUT AND GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY! IT IS WORTH THE TRIP!

                                                         HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

Collage Overlay by Leada Wood, Artist of Texas

A little collage overlay

Letting the paint go where it will and dripping and splattering

Sometimes it is fun just to drip paint and see where it takes you.  The journey of discovery is what creativity is all about.  I started fooling around with two of my favorite Golden liquid acrylics and splashed and splattered them around until I enjoyed the results. Then I started playing with my stamps while that was drying, stamping about until the paint was dry. I then started tearing those apart and collaged them on top of the painted canvas board, layering them on top of each other. I'm not sure I have finished or not...at least for now it is. I may add something else later, if I do I will keep you posted.

Time Is Like A Circus by Leada Wood, Artist Of Texas

Time Is A Circus by Leada Wood

This painting is 12x12  acrylic on canvas. There is a lot of symbolism going on within the painting.  The little person standing with her hands on her hips is painted from clock keys that belonged to my dad. I combined three different clock keys and added little features to make it look like a little person.  My dad was a clock repairman and jeweler and could fix anything! The little person represents me. I used various clock parts and pieces around the painting. My mom collected elephants so that represents her and the two monkeys represent my brothers, these are also animals you see in a circus. This painting represents time, and how there is never enough of it...it just goes so fast! I found a quote that I liked, don't know who wrote it but it goes like this:
Time is like a circus always packing up and moving away.
I hope you enjoyed my little take on time.

This is my painting for Inspiration Avenue's weekly challenge Keys.
Be sure to check out Inspiration Avenue's weekly challenge Keys to see all the great art work.

Santa Fe by Leada Wood, Artist Of Texas

Ahh Santa Fe in Autumn is one of my favorite destinations. Cool crisp air, the golden aspens quaking in the breeze, the smell of chilies roasting in the air, and the blue sky and gentle sunshine...what's not to love! One of my favorite shops is Jackalopes, they have everything. It is fun just to wander around and see things from all over the world.

The adobes are everywhere in Santa Fe. This adobe was at Rancho de las Golondrinas or ranch of the swallows, a living history museum. We went to a Renaissance Fair which was entertaining. There were dragons, knights, kings, queens, fairies, fair maidens,ect... just like stepping back in time.

There were also jousters...aren't they hilarous! They were quite the hams and very entertaining.  So many memories to spark my creative imagination.

No trip to Santa Fe would be complete without going to Ghost Ranch...where the famed Georgia O'Keef spent lots of time painting.  The scenery was stunning! I know now why she moved there.  If you get a chance go to Santa Fe...spring or autumn it's wonderful.
