Sheere Moates

Sheere Moates was the guest speaker for the West Texas Art Guild, hosted by Leada Wood in Studio 20.  Sheere who owns Displays of Splendor, is an artist who operates a framing shop and art gallery.  She gave a presentation on how to choose your mats and frames to enhance the beauty of your art. It was an enlightening program and gave us lots to think about when choosing a frame.

An Artist's Life by Leada Wood

Lovely Lola

This is lovely Lola, my studio muse. She is always in a good mood and is a very good listener! She keeps an eye on things for me at Studio Twenty. Studio Twenty is a consignment gallery and is where I create my art. I also host the local art club, West Texas Art Guild, which I co-founded with my friend Carolyn. Somethimes there are workshops and demos by  artists from  all over our great state.  Come along with me and I will take you on tour!

Paper Geisha

Work in progress. Today at Leada Wood's Studio Twenty the West Texas Art Guild had a workshop with Suzy Pal. Suzy showed us how to paint with paper or collage, except we tore hundreds of bits of different colored paper from magazines pages and glued the bits to paper or canvas with gloss varnish. I am holding up my geisha that I was working on. We had a wonderful day playing with paper!

My Prodigies

This little Prodigie got first

This little prodigie got second

This little Prodigie got third

And this little Prodigie got honorable mention!
I am so proud of my little art students! They all placed recently at the Children's Art Show in Mitchell County. They worked so hard getting their paintings finished and were so excited. There were five different divisions. The annual Children's Art Show is sponsored by the West Texas Art Guild which is all about promoting art in West Texas and art education. I think there was over 100 enteries this year. Lots of talent!
I know the out of town judge had her work cut out for her . Hope you can go by the library and see it, if you are in the area. It's worth the trip!
