"All Is Calm" by Leada Wood, Texas Artist

Oh the weather in Texas is delightful, and the air is so alluring, especially for the middle of December! A pleasant 68 degrees and sunshine beckon me to go outdoors and explore. There is always something in nature to see when I am hiking and I always carry my camera to capture my moments in time. Do you see what I see...thought I would share my adventures.
Thanks for stopping by!

THE RAIN BRINGS, BY LEADA WOOD, TEXAS ARTIST

My Mom and Dad brought me this sign from one of their trips to Missouri, many years ago. It sure sums up how I feel about my garden! Here at Dragonfly farm in Texas we have been blessed with rain and cool, cloudy days...but I know the heat will be on eventually. I have been out capturing the moments with my camera so during the dog days of summer I can sit in my cool studio and paint. I wanted to share some of them with you.

Nothing as beautiful as our flag waving in the breeze. The symbol of our freedom, so many have given their lives for the privilege... and I am grateful.  This photo was from a trip to the hill country to see all the gorgeous wildflowers.

Feeling a little tropical around here with all the Hibiscus in full bloom.  Boot Man gave  them to me for Mother's Day! Flowers I can enjoy all summer long, they love the heat and bloom profusely.

The Petunias have loved the rain as well and are bigger than a bushel basket. The baby kittens love to hide under them.

The Herbs and garden have enjoyed the rain as well. You can see the garden has been calling me and taking my time away from painting and blogging...ah well, it's LIFE! I have been enjoying the time in the garden, while it is cool enough to do so. These photos are of some of my Herbs, Sage, Basil, and Dill. I grow others as well.

The Caterpillars have been plentiful on the Fennel...I grow it just for them. In turn I have lots of beautiful butterflies. As you can see from the photo they get pretty big!

Spring on Dragonfly Farm always brings baby kittens, one of my favorite things! I hope you have enjoyed my little tour of the farm and a peek into my life. Now you know what I have been up to...just in case you wondered. Have a wonderful week!

Spring Scenes by Leada Wood

Spring has definitely sprung at Dragonfly Farm! Here are some of our cute kids of Sunnye Brooke Farm with Boot Man admiring the newest kid on the farm. Now that's a Kodak moment!

Baby llamas are abounding! I have seven babies at this time. Sure glad it has been a gentle winter as they came a couple of months earlier than I would like. Very thankful that we have enough wheat for them to eat, as last summer we were having to buy hay and that was getting hard to come by.

Our fruit trees are in all their glory, a beautiful sight. I may see some peach blossom paintings in my future! I love Spring! The earth is reawakening, the promise of Resurrection...what's not to love! I have been busy planting and enjoying the warm days. Too nice to be indoors so not much painting going on...but lots of inspiration all around. I have been soaking up the sunshine as well as the inspiration in the great outdoors. Taking lots of photos for future paintings...love my digital camera!

Hope you enjoyed taking a peek at what I have been up to and my life on the farm! Y'all come back now!

Dragon Fly Farm by Leada Wood, Artist Of Texas

PiPi Longstockings

This is the newest member of my herd, born on Halloween, Pipi Longstockings. I thought I was going to have to get rid of my llamas with the drought we had this summer...and I did sell some of them. Then the autumn rains...just two to date, came and the wheat is green and growing and the pastures are greening up again...Praise God!  I never gave up hope that our God who supplies all our needs would send the much needed autumn rain....I pray that the rains do continue, don't you?

Summer is in full bloom at Dragonfly Farm

Summer is in full bloom
Ahh  summer is in full bloom at Dragonfly farm! Even though there is a drought I am managing to keep things blooming, gotta have that beautiful color all around to inspire me and keep me happy! I saw the red dragonflies yesterday, they have returned. It was so dry I was afraid they might not make it this year. Our bird feeders have been hopping with Painted Buntings, Scarlet Tangiers, Cardnials, Sparrows, Dove and some I haven't figured out yet. The hummingbirds are flitting about as well. Life Is Good!

Pray For Rain For Texas

Well it is very dry here at Dragonfly farm, as all of Texas is right now. We have nothing for our animals to eat except the round bales that we bring in for them. I know people all over whose wells are going dry. The heat, nearly a month of triple digit days, combined with winds up to forty miles per hour are taking a toll on our land, our water reserves, our animals. I thank God for air conditioning quiet often and a cool drink of water when needed. I hope He hears our prayers soon and soothes our parched land and fills our lakes and water reserves.  We really need to remember this verse "Do not worry about anything; instead pray about everything." Phillippians 4:6

Tulips Are Blooming At Dragonfly Farm

My little sugar cookie looks like springtime sitting by my tulips...wonder if she is thinking about picking a few for me!
